The "grosti y craut" is fried dough served with sauerkraut. This is a very typical dish and is are served on special occasions like the town's festival. The dough is made out of potatoes, flour, eggs, butter and nutmeg. They are served with marinated sauerkraut. A tasty dish that is eaten without any cutlery. Watch out: Don't burn yourself!
Boil and mash potatoes and allow to cool.
Knead egg yolk, melted butter, flour and salt to a dough.
Roll out dough until around 2mm thick, cut out round sheets and lay on a cloth.
Fry dough sheets in hot oil until golden brown. Drain well on kitchen paper and serve hot with sauerkraut.
